Senior Software Engineer, AI Platforms
Zivver
At Kiteworks, we believe that our most critical advantage is the speed and quality of our innovation. We are committed to building a world-class Engineering and Product organization, and that means equipping our builders with the most advanced tools on the planet. We are investing in a dedicated team to harness the power of AI to supercharge our internal development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment and beyond. This is your opportunity to build the tools that build our products.
We are looking for a creative and highly-skilled AI Engineer to be the core builder on our Internal AI Platforms team. You will partner directly with our AI Product Manager to bring our vision for a smarter, faster development lifecycle to life. Your mission is to be a force multiplier for our entire R&D organization, designing, building, and deploying the AI-powered tools that your colleagues will use every day.
You will be the technical authority responsible for turning product requirements into production-ready AI systems. This is a hands-on role where you will be prototyping, fine-tuning models, building APIs, and deploying services that have an immediate and tangible impact on developer productivity and happiness.
What you'll do
- Design and Build AI Systems: Translate product requirements and user problems into robust, scalable, and elegant technical designs. You will own the implementation of AI models and services from end to end.
- Prototype and Iterate Rapidly: Quickly build proofs-of-concept and prototypes to test hypotheses and gather feedback from our internal engineering and product users.
- Fine-Tune and Optimize Models: Work with state-of-the-art Large Language Models (LLMs). You will be responsible for fine-tuning open-source models on our internal codebase and data to create bespoke, high-performing solutions.
- Integrate and Deploy: Build and maintain the infrastructure for deploying and serving your models. You will be responsible for MLOps practices, ensuring our AI services are reliable, observable, and efficient.
- Partner with Product: Collaborate closely with the AI Product Manager to refine the roadmap, provide technical feasibility assessments, and ensure the engineering work is aligned with the highest-impact user problems.
- Stay on the Cutting Edge: Continuously research and experiment with the latest advancements in AI/ML, including new models, techniques (like RAG), and frameworks (like LangChain/LlamaIndex), and be a thought leader for how we can apply them internally.
- High-Impact Role: You will directly influence the productivity and happiness of our entire R&D organization. The tools you build will have a tangible and immediate impact.
- Innovation at the Core: We are committed to being leaders not just in our market, but in how we build our products. You will have the resources and executive support to be truly innovative.
- A-Team Colleagues: You will be working with and for some of the best engineers and product minds in the industry.
- Competitive Compensation: We offer a competitive salary, bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.
What you'll bring
- An Expert in AI/ML: You have a deep understanding of machine learning principles and hands-on experience building and deploying AI models. You are proficient in Python and common ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- LLM-Native: You have concrete, hands-on experience working with Large Language Models. You have used APIs from providers like OpenAI/Anthropic and, ideally, have experience fine-tuning and serving open-source models (e.g., Llama, Mistral).
- A Pragmatic and Product-Minded Engineer: You are passionate about the technology, but you are driven by solving the user's problem. You care deeply about building tools that are not just technically impressive, but are also useful, reliable, and loved by their users.
- A Proven Builder: You have a strong software engineering foundation. You write clean, maintainable code, understand system design, and have experience shipping and maintaining services in a production environment.
- Strong Collaborator and Communicator: You can explain complex technical concepts to non-experts and enjoy working in a tight-knit, collaborative team with product management and your end-users.
- Experience: You have 3+ years of professional experience in a software engineering or machine learning role, with a portfolio of projects that demonstrates your ability to build and ship AI-powered applications.
Bonus points
- Experience with MLOps tools and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience building developer tools or working in a developer productivity team.
- Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects.
- Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.
