We are seeking a Mainframe Modernization Expert to play a critical role in bridging the gap between client modernization challenges and our internal product development efforts. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in COBOL development, mainframe modernization, and consulting, and will use their expertise to help us build tools and services that enable organizations to modernize their legacy mainframe systems. This role combines client-facing responsibilities with internal collaboration to ensure our solutions address real-world modernization challenges effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Internal Collaboration and Product Development:

• Act as the internal subject-matter expert on mainframe modernization, advising product and R&D teams.
• Translate client feedback and industry challenges into actionable insights to inform the development of our tools and services.
• Work closely with engineering, product, and design teams to ensure the features and functionality of our solutions meet the needs of modernization efforts.
• Provide expertise to shape the company’s roadmap for addressing technical and operational pain points faced by organizations modernizing their mainframe systems.
• Support the creation of technical content, documentation, and training materials that enhance our service offerings.

Client-Facing Responsibilities:

• Engage with clients to assess legacy mainframe systems and understand their unique modernization challenges.
• Serve as a trusted advisor during modernization projects, providing insights and recommendations tailored to client needs.
• Facilitate workshops, presentations, and technical discussions to align client requirements with our solutions.
• Partner with clients in industries like finance to ensure our products align with compliance and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

Professional Experience:

• Extensive hands-on experience with COBOL development and mainframe systems.
• Proven experience with mainframe modernization projects, including strategy development and implementation.
• Consulting experience with strong customer-facing skills.
• Experience advising product teams or contributing to tool and service development is a significant advantage.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in mainframe technologies such as CICS, JCL, BMS, RPG, and PL/1.
• Familiarity with modernization tools, methodologies, and cloud migration strategies.

Industry Experience:

• Experience working with financial organizations or other large enterprises (preferred).

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to identify client pain points and translate them into innovative product features.
• Collaborative mindset for working cross-functionally with internal teams.

Language:

• Fluent in English (required).
