The role
As the finance expert responsible for Italy, this role holds full end-to-end accountability for ensuring Soldo is fully aware of all finance related requirements of the Italian entities, including accounting, tax, compliance, reporting, treasury, and financial governance.
This role ensures the accuracy of financial information and tax reporting, maintains adherence to the Italian Civil Code and EU directives. Acting as the interface between local statutory requirements and Group financial frameworks, the position combines technical expertise with hands-on operational execution.
Key responsibilities
Statutory Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Ensure complete accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial records, general ledgers, and sub-ledgers in full compliance with Italian GAAP (OIC) and IFRS/IAS where applicable. In addition to monthly and annual requirements, the role is operational and hands-on, including the responsibility of the daily recording of incoming and outgoing payments and the reconciliation of bank accounts.
- Lead the preparation and timely filing of the Annual Statutory Financial Statements (Bilancio d’Esercizio) ensuring full compliance with the Italian Civil Code.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and relevant stakeholders, ensuring audit processes are conducted rigorously, efficiently, and supported by accurate and well-maintained documentation.
- Oversee and manage the relationships with banks and ensure effective cash management.
Tax & Mandatory Filings
- Oversee all recurring tax and statutory obligations, including VAT declarations, LIPE, Intrastat, CU, withholding tax payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
- Prepare, maintain, and update transfer pricing documentation related to the Italian entities, including Master File and Local File where required, in alignment with Italian and international requirements.
- Support audits, inspections, or inquiries from tax authorities, particularly in relation to transfer pricing and corporate taxation matters.
- Monitor and interpret developments in Italian tax legislation to ensure lawful tax optimization and provide informed guidance in dealings with the Agenzia delle Entrate.
- Provide technical expertise and support on cross-border taxation, transfer pricing, and international operating structures.
Payroll Finance & Social Security
- Ensure accurate financial accounting of all payroll-related costs, including salaries, Trattamento di Fine Rapporto (TFR) calculation and provisioning, social security contributions (INPS), and accident insurance (INAIL), based on payroll processing performed by the People Division.
Corporate governance
- Collaborate with the corporate secretary and legal team to manage corporate governance requirements, including statutory books, board minutes, and board resolutions, mandatory filings and regulatory communications.
- Monitor applicable regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance and proper governance practices.
Compliance, Data Privacy & Security
- Ensure data governance and regulatory compliance within the finance function by maintaining secure and resilient financial processes aligned with DORA and PCI DSS requirements.
- Oversee the handling and protection of confidential financial data in compliance with GDPR, DORA, PCI DSS, and applicable local data protection and security regulations.
Cross Entity Operations
- Act as a financial partner to Business Units and finance colleagues across the company ensuring the Italian entities are correctly financially monitored as well and integrated into the broader company reporting.
Must have
- Proven track record in a senior finance role within the Italian market and within a SaaS company.
- Proven and demonstrable commitment to data accuracy and ethical financial conduct.
- Expert knowledge of the Italian fiscal framework, Italian Civil Code, and International Accounting Standards (IAS/IFRS).
- Regulatory Knowledge Familiarity with DORA, PCI-DSS, and GDPR as they apply to financial data and operational resilience.
- Ability to manage high-pressure periods (monthly, quarterly and fiscal year-end) while maintaining rigorous compliance and accuracy standards.
- Experience managing finance team directly and a strong ability to communicate complex Italian fiscal requirements to non-Italian Group stakeholders.
