About OpenGamma

OpenGamma provides cutting-edge treasury and margin management solutions to financial institutions, enabling firms to maximise their returns and minimise trading costs in today’s capital markets. With over 60 clients, including some of the world's leading hedge funds, clearing houses and asset managers, OpenGamma’s products have helped firms improve efficiency and save millions of dollars in capital.

Our cloud-based services perform millions of calculations on client portfolios every day in order to identify opportunities for savings and guide trading decisions. We offer several mechanisms to clients for consuming the results we produce, including our modern, web-based user interface and REST APIs. Our deep market knowledge and in-house quantitative expertise provides the foundations on which our platform is built; we have independently replicated over 50 margin methodologies for clearing houses and brokers across the globe.

We are a growing company that understands the difference each individual can make. We operate with transparency and minimal bureaucracy, provide clarity on how our objectives impact your work, and help you focus your efforts on what matters for the business. We can offer significant progression as you grow with us.

We operate a ‘remote first’ working policy and do not have a fixed office. We have employees in over 10 locations across North America and Europe and have optimised our processes and working practices to maximise the efficiency of remote work. All employees are provided access to local coworking office spaces to use at their leisure. In addition, company funded team meetups occur at least twice a year giving every employee the opportunity to meet their colleagues in person, along with a company wide annual off-site.

About the role

The Technical Business Analyst role sits within our Production Operations function. The team is based across the UK, US and Europe, to support our global client base, and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of our functionality across all of our production customers, ensuring that clients are able to make effective use of our product.

As a Technical Business Analyst at OpenGamma, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Investigate and own potentially complex problems related to our product; this covers both issues/queries raised by our clients and also issues detected automatically by our systems. These can be related to a broad range of topics, including but not limited to problems arising from invalid trade interpretation, margin discrepancies and technical issues.
  • Communicate directly with clients to extract details and provide updates to the client.
  • Build a deep understanding of our product, system and its data flows in order to help our clients effectively use our product.
  • Suggest improvements in internal tooling and processes, as a key enabler to improving internal efficiencies across the entire Production Operations team.
  • Work closely with a broad range of colleagues across the entire company, such as our Relationship Management, Development and Product teams, in order to investigate and solve product issues.
  • Interpret code and configuration when investigating issues.

Why you should apply

  • At OpenGamma, you will be at the heart of a rapidly growing company with a constantly evolving product.
  • The work you do will have a direct impact on our clients, and you’ll be providing this value from day one.
  • You’ll solve complex and ever-changing problems whilst building up advanced knowledge of derivatives products and margin models.
  • You’ll be welcomed into a team who will support your development and throw new opportunities at you at every stage.
  • You’ll interact with and learn from people across the entire firm; including relationship management, software development and product management.
  • You are wanting to work in a fast-paced environment, being challenged at every opportunity.

What we are looking for

  • You are a proven problem solver; methodically working through possibilities to find a solution.
  • You can effectively communicate with both external clients and software developers, be it face to face or written correspondence, and build strong relationships with them; seeking guidance to develop your skills and responsibilities.
  • You have experience with reading and navigating through code to debug issues.
  • You have experience in a bank, hedge fund, asset manager or fintech.
  • You have knowledge of derivatives markets, products and risk management, and are keen to build on this knowledge further.
  • You have a hunger to learn and evolve your knowledge.
  • You seek to understand the bigger picture but are also detail oriented and keen to understand the ‘why’ of everything you work on.
  • You have a high attention to detail.
  • You are adept at context switching and relish changing priorities.
  • You are proficient at searching and manipulating data using Excel.
  • You know when to approach others for help and are skilled at extracting the right information from the right people.
  • You can communicate articulately and present your own ideas and solutions.
  • You have graduated from a top university, with a technical, quantitative or analytical degree.

In 2020, we made the switch to remote-first working. All of our employees work primarily from home, and we offer access to coworking facilities in major locations globally. We are looking to hire across the US to cover our global client base.
