About

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer for our In and Out team to help build, maintain, and scale our React-based component libraries that power the UI for Lokalise applications. This is as well as working closely with cross-functional teams on everything from Frontend standardization, delivering code best practices, creating reusable code, and supporting our engineers, designers, and Product to drive consistency across our interfaces.

You will

• Write scalable, performant, and accessible CSS, HTML, and JavaScript that makes up our suite of ReactJS/TypeScript reusable components
• Carefully design the APIs for these components – considering key details like balancing flexibility with design consistency, developer experience, and consistency across the framework
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers from across the organization to introduce new patterns/components into the framework and iterate on existing ones
• Help maintain and iterate on our internal site for displaying and documenting the design system
• Write documentation – documentation is critical for the usability and success of a design system
• Contribute to and help drive decisions, initiatives, and coding patterns throughout the larger Frontend team at Lokalise
• Advocate for best practices, accessibility, and performance
• Cover own code with unit tests
• Gain in-depth product knowledge and become familiar with the software localization processes used around the globe

You must have

• Senior-level experience working with React and React Hooks
• In-depth knowledge of Vanilla JS and TypeScript
• In-depth knowledge of CSS-in-JS solutions (styled-components) and CSS3
• Experience working with Jest
• Experience working with REST API
• An understanding of the latest ECMAScript specifications
• Good knowledge of Git
• Working knowledge of English

It will be considered a significant advantage if you bring

• Knowledge of PHP
• Experience working with Docker
• Experience with CSS preprocessors (LESS/Sass)
• Experience building and maintaining design systems, components, and design tokens
• Leadership skills and an ability to develop strong partnerships
• Experience with Storybook and design/prototyping tools (e.g., Figma)
• Experience publishing npm packages, semantic versioning, and backward compatibility, as well as delivering breaking changes without hurting engineering productivity.
