Even though our company operates exclusively on a remote basis, you are required to reside in and have legal work eligibility within one of the specified countries.: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom.

About

Lokalise is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Product, Design, Data and Engineering organization and help drive the success of our products, delivering clean and scalable code and having a passion for collaborating on complex problem-solving within Engineering.

You will
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend solutions that are high-quality, tested, scalable and performant
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product and design, to establish effective software architecture and roll out new features
  • Write well-documented, clean, and maintainable code, adhering to established best practices and methodologies
  • Continuously improve, optimize, fix, and refactor existing codebase, ensuring quality, scalability, performance, and maintainability
  • Mentor fellow backend engineers, drive engineering initiatives, and foster a strong, collaborative engineering culture that emphasizes continuous learning. Engage in code reviews, offering constructive feedback to peers
  • Gain in-depth product knowledge and become familiar with the software localization process over the globe
You must have
  • 5+ years of backend development experience, with proficiency in PHP and Symfony (or similar) framework and knowledge of at least one other language showcasing your versatility and capacity to adapt to various coding environments
  • Strong understanding of good engineering practices
  • Experience designing, architecting, and building large-scale and resilient distributed systems
  • Experience working with a service-driven or microservice architecture
  • Experience working with message queues (such as RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ or SQS)
  • Experience with different data storages and search engines such as Redis, ElasticSearch, MySQL, PostgresSQL, MongoDB
  • Experience writing and maintaining a suite of automated tests such as unit tests, integration tests, performance, and end-to-end (e2e)
  • tests to ensure the reliability and performance of back-end systems.
  • Experience working with Docker
  • Experience in using Observability tools like Bugsnag, New Relic, or similar.
  • Good knowledge of Git
  • Experience in evaluation of performance and memory-consumption of code
  • Strong verbal and written communication and problem-solving mindset
  • Positive attitude and Growth mindset
  • Working knowledge of English
It will be considered a significant advantage if you have:
  • Experience working with TypeScript and Node.js
  • Experience working in an open-source community as maintainer or a contributor
  • Experience with AWS and its services
  • Experience working with Fastify or Prisma
  • Experience with localization domain
