What You Will Be Doing

We are seeking a high-performing Senior Accountant to join our finance team at Gelato. This role is the "engine room" of our financial operations, responsible for the end-to-end accounting lifecycle. You will leverage AI and automation to streamline core processes, ensuring total accuracy in our financial data while maintaining robust regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is a proactive professional with a background in accounting who thrives in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant directs the end-to-end accounting lifecycle, leveraging AI and automation to streamline AP, AR, and payment workflows. This role ensures the integrity of the general ledger and maintains optimal liquidity through tech-driven cash management. You will oversee the full cycle of financial transactions, ensuring strict adherence to tax regulations and statutory requirements while using automated tools to enhance accuracy and audit readiness. By integrating advanced financial software, the Senior Accountant optimizes payment disbursements and collections, ensuring the firm’s core financial operations remain efficient, compliant, and at the forefront of regulatory excellence.

  • End-to-End Ledger Management: Oversee the full accounting cycle, ensuring precise execution of AP and AR processes, including automated payment disbursements and collections.

  • Treasury & Cash Management: Monitor daily cash positions, manage liquidity, and optimize payment timing to maintain healthy working capital across our global jurisdictions.

  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to local and international regulations (VAT/GST/Sales Tax); manage tax filings, statutory reporting, and serve as a key point of contact for external audits.

  • Automation & AI Integration: Identify and execute opportunities to automate manual accounting tasks using AI tools (e.g., Gemini, Python, n8n, or similar) to increase efficiency and data quality.

  • Process Excellence: Maintain and refine the internal control environment for payments and financial data, ensuring all transactions meet corporate and legal standards.

Who You Are

You are an experienced accountant with a hands-on mindset and a passion for building scalable financial processes. You bring structure to complex workflows and take pride in driving operational excellence through technology. You are analytical, detail-oriented, and a strong collaborator who can align accounting functions with broader business objectives.

Our Requirements Include

  • Experience: 2–5 years of professional experience, ideally gained within a Big 4 accounting firm (EY, Deloitte, KPMG, or PwC).

  • Education: Qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent), or an experienced professional with deep expertise in accounting processes.

  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis; experience using NetSuite ERP or similar financial systems is highly preferred.

  • AI & Automation: Proficiency or strong interest in AI tools and technologies (such as Gemini, Cursor, Python, n8n, or similar) is a strong advantage, particularly for driving automation and process efficiency.

  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate complex information clearly.
