What you will be doing
Sustainability is part of the core business model at Gelato and we have high ambitions to change the world. The VP of Sustainability will play a vital role in shaping and executing Gelato's sustainability strategy. You will oversee emissions and waste reduction, community support, and transparency in the supply chain. You'll work with teams, suppliers, and partners to make every aspect of sustainability (ESG) central to Gelato's global operations.
Some of your key responsibilities will include
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with the company’s mission.
- Set clear sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress and impact.
- Collaborate with production partners and suppliers to assess and improve supply chain transparency and sustainability.
- Implement initiatives to reduce carbon emissions across the production and distribution processes.
- Explore and implement carbon offset and renewable energy solutions to achieve carbon neutrality goals.
- Explore and implement circular economy principles to reduce the environmental impact of our products.
- Ensure compliance with ESG regulations (incl. CSRD) and reporting requirements in all operating countries.
- Prepare and submit sustainability reports to stakeholders, customers, and regulatory bodies.
- Promote sustainability initiatives and responsible consumption to customers, partners, and team members.
- Build strong relationships with industry groups and foster partnerships that contribute to communities
- Stay updated on general sustainability trends and best practices (incl. Production technologies)
- Manage the sustainability budget, tracking expenses and demonstrating the financial benefits of initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate sustainability-related risks to the company's operations and reputation.
Who you are
In order to be successful in this role, it's essential to embrace a startup mentality, foster a collaborative mindset, and exhibit a genuine passion for sustainability. You'll be orchestrating comprehensive strategies from inception to execution, seamlessly blending the roles of a strategist and a hands-on implementer.
- Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, business, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 10+ years of proven experience in leading ESG initiatives in a global, multi-location, or outsourced partner environment.
- Strong understanding of ESG regulations, carbon accounting, and ESG reporting standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change, influence stakeholders, and lead cross-functional teams.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to measure and communicate the business value of sustainability efforts.
