About the Role
As a Financial Accountant focussed on indirect tax at Cover Genius, you will be working amongst a rapidly expanding finance team, part of Cover Genius’ group finance team based in Amsterdam, Sydney, and New York. This role will require you to be a knowledgeable and resourceful member of the Tax and Accounting team who supports and evolves the day-to-day, while working cross-functionally across the organisation as you support key financial processes that continually support and enable all areas of the business and its rapid growth.
We are looking for a driven, reliable, and self-starting person who works exceptionally well with others and wants to be part of a global insurtech company with the vision to protect all customers of the world’s largest digital companies. This role reports into the Director of Tax.
What will your day look like? You will...
- Play an integral role in the global tax function, including preparing both direct and indirect tax returns, in conjunction with local experts
- Perform month-end close activities such as tax entries and reviews
- Identify opportunities for automation, standardisation, and overall process improvement as we build and scale the global team
- Support financial statement audits with external auditors, which includes the preparation, maintenance, and oversight of audit-ready tax calculations and workpapers
- Support in maintenance of the tax compliance calendars and work with the tax director and external tax advisors to maintain compliance
- Support in transfer pricing, and various other global tax initiatives
- Partake in ad hoc accounting or finance projects and analyses.
To help us level up, you'll ideally have:
- 2+ years of tax accounting experience, Big Four experience preferred
- Degree in tax
- Professional Certification (Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant or equivalent), or working towards
- Thrives on collaboration and operates with a strong internal stakeholder mentality
- Strong ability to quickly identify both risks and opportunities while maintaining a strong focus on both process improvements and results
- Able to cope with a dynamic and high change environment
- Takes ownership for responsibilities with a positive attitude
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive self-starter, resourceful with a strong work ethic
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Netsuite
- Fluent in spoken and written English
