About the Role
As a Paralegal on our Legal and Privacy Team, you will support Cover Genius’ legal and privacy efforts by assisting with various cross-functional projects. This role offers a unique opportunity for law students or experienced paralegals to gain valuable experience in an international company, either remotely or at our Montevideo office.
To drive success in this role, you will have a solid foundation in legal principles, strong organizational skills, and a keen interest in privacy law. As the Paralegal, you will assist in document review, support the privacy team, conduct compliance checks, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the legal department. Regular collaboration with the privacy, compliance, and regional legal teams will be key in ensuring smooth operations and adherence to legal standards.
What will your day look like? You will...
- Assist in the review of documents and confirm signatories for counterparties (certificate of good standing/POA/etc.)
- Support the privacy team in overseeing the privacy inbox and first line responding to queries on a daily basis
- Assist privacy team in conducting data protection impact assessments
- Support in compliance issues and conducting due diligence processes for LatAm region (analysis of documents provided by third parties and review of any potential risk)
- Assist in preparation of drafting responses to regulatory complaints, including the review of pertinent factual information and application of policy terms and conditions
- Assist in maintenance of compliance materials, records and filings
- Help implement bilingual documents (English/Spanish and English/Portuguese)
- Contribute to projects optimizing the data privacy program and processes
- Support in the incorporation process of LatAm entities and help in the day-to-day legal issues of such entities (filings, provide documents to external legal counsel,etc.)
- Support in labor law queries and human resources related issues.
To help us level up, you'll ideally have:
- Working towards a law degree or former experience as a paralegal/legal assistant.
- Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about privacy law.
- Fluent in English; fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish is a plus.
- Experience with data privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations is preferred.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, A postgraduate degree and/or record of academic achievement is also desirable

The base salary range for this role is between UYU 1,200,000 - 1,500,000 . The total compensation package also includes equity, and the opportunity for additional earnings through our annual bonus.
