As a Compliance Manager on our Compliance Team, you will own first line review and maintenance of the internal compliance assessment process and framework used by Cover Genius to manage risk exposure to the business.
To drive success in this role, you will have experience in a similar role building and implementing frameworks for the compliance function. As the Compliance Manager you will support the insurance leads in maintaining the company’s compliance strategy and assist the insurance business to have adequate controls, procedures, and processes in place to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations and codes applicable to the sale of insurance, warranty, and related products. Regular collaboration with regional insurance and partner services teams will be key in ensuring programs and products are implemented minimizing risk exposure to CG and its partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the company’s compliance requirements, policies, and internal guidelines in APAC including the maintenance of the company’s licenses, preparing underwriter audit responses, and monitoring existing programs
  • Monitoring and managing Cover Genius’s compliance with regulatory requirements (AFSL, ASIC requirements in particular)
  • Maintaining and improving compliance management tools, calendar, templates, and checklists
  • Managing the oversight of corporate authorised representatives
  • Review and monitor the design, structure, and distribution of new and enhanced products to ensure that they meet regulatory requirements as well as internal control policies and standards
  • Supporting business departments in interpreting compliance requirements, and in adopting practical procedures and solutions for complying with policies and regulations
  • Collaborating with legal and management teams to develop and revise company policies and procedures to align with changing regulations and industry best practices
  • Managing incident and breach reporting, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to relevant authorities
  • Evaluating the compliance risks associated with new products, services, and partnerships and providing recommendations for risk mitigation
  • Providing training and guidance to employees to ensure understanding of the Australian regulatory landscape
  • Monitoring industry developments and communicating with the relevant business units
  • Liaising with external auditors and regulatory agencies when required

What you will bring:

  • 5+ years experience in a compliance role within the insurance/financial services industry with managerial experience preferred
  • Experience building and implementing risk control frameworks
  • Knowledge and understanding of AFSL requirements and ASIC Regulatory Guides
  • Experience with identification, assessment, and management frameworks for risks
  • Understanding of compliance analytics and qualitative and quantitative risk measures, and experience reporting on measurable outcomes
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing, and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to independently take initiative on projects
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, A postgraduate degree and/or record of academic achievement is also desirable
