Joining Collibra’s Performance Engineering team
We're looking for a talented Software Performance Engineer, who will play a crucial role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of our software applications. You will be expected to work autonomously, drive initiatives, and consistently meet high performance standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, execute, and analyze performance tests, identify performance bottlenecks, and recommend optimizations to enhance user experience.
This is a hybrid position based in Prague, Czech Republic.
Performance Engineers at Collibra are responsible for
- Perform Performance Engineering activities for critical projects and application by designing and executing comprehensive performance test strategies and plans across the full software and hardware stack, ensuring objectives align with business requirements and scale targets.
- Conduct end-to-end performance testing, load testing, stress testing, and scalability testing for core platform features and services.
- Develop and maintain performance test scripts using industry-standard tools and frameworks (e.g., LoadRunner, JMeter, Artillery, K6, Gatling).
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines utilizing tools like GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
- Utilize monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and Datadog to analyze performance test results, identify system bottlenecks, and collaborate with engineering teams on resolution.
- Set up and manage necessary test environments, leveraging experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes).
- Apply the scientific method (observing, research, hypothesis, test, conclusion) to systematically examine and break down complex performance data and bottlenecks into manageable, actionable insights.
- Work closely with system architects and infrastructure teams to optimize software and hardware configurations.
- Provide regular performance test reports and metrics to stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
- Keep up-to-date with emerging trends in design patterns, coding practices, and test automation, applying new practices to enhance product effectiveness and drive better return on investment.
- Act as a solution-oriented professional, applying out-of-the-box thinking to solve real-world performance challenges and business problems.
- Maintain open, clear, and effective communication (verbal, technical, and written) with engineering, product, and architecture teams.
You have
- 4+ years of experience in software performance testing, preferably within a SaaS or enterprise software environment, with a strong understanding of performance testing methodologies and best practices.
- Proficiency in performance testing tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, or similar.
- Experience with scripting and programming languages (e.g., Java, Python).
- Hands-on experience and understanding of web technologies (HTTP, REST APIs, etc.) and application performance monitoring (APM) tools like Datadog or Grafana for real-time analysis and reporting.
- Good understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines, with direct experience using tools like GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent related working experience is required.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Proven ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- You must have work authorization to work in Prague, CZ.
You are
- Experienced in Performance Engineering and optimization efforts across multiple projects or systems.
- Capable in designing and executing performance testing strategies to evaluate scalability, reliability, and responsiveness of complex software systems.
- Experienced in analyzing performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement in application and system performance.
- Collaborative with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot performance issues and drive solutions.
Measures of Success
Within your first month, you will complete onboarding and mandatory learnings, while becoming familiar with our products, performance testing tools, and benchmarking framework.
Within your third month, you will be actively contributing to performance testing processes — designing, executing, and analyzing performance tests to identify bottlenecks and improve system scalability.
Within your sixth month, you will be a direct contributor to performance testing initiatives end to end, helping to identify performance quality improvements across products and teams and will contribute to the creation and enhancement of best practices for performance monitoring and optimization.
