About this role
Ably’s Content Marketing team brings together technical writers, channel experts, and growth-minded individuals to build our brand and customer-base. The opportunity to spread the word about Ably through high-caliber and engaging content is what excites and motivates us each day. As an experienced Technical Content Writer, you’ll play a pivotal role in our Marketing team as we continue our rapid growth. Whether you come from a content content marketing background, technical documentation, or you’re a developer who enjoys writing, this role offers a unique opportunity to delve into all facets of technical content marketing at an exciting developer tools company.
You'll be instrumental in making content a growth engine for Ably, producing assets (blog posts, whitepapers and landing pages to name just a few) that drive traffic, generate leads, and convert readers into paying customers. Your top-quality content will resonate with highly technical audiences, raising eyebrows and helping set Ably apart.
Day to day, you will
- Drive content creation. You’ll research, create, write, edit and update technical content assets across our various, diverse content streams.
- Work collaboratively to enhance content distribution. You’ll work closely with DevRel, Engineering, Product, Customer Success and the broader Marketing team to improve and disseminate content effectively.
- Lead innovative content ideation. You’ll independently seek out and explore new topics to cover and identify adaptable content types and templates we can use and reuse.
- Play a key role in shaping content strategy. You’ll actively contribute to the formulation and execution of Ably’s content strategy, driving its success.
We’d love to hear from you if you have
- Proven experience in delivering impactful long-form technical content (including how to content, informational articles, and guides) to technical audiences, and a portfolio to showcase your work.
- An understanding of developers behaviour and preferences (how they buy, consume and develop products) and can use that knowledge to create compelling and engaging content.
- A continuous learner mindset and comfort with complex technical concepts.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, as part of cross-functional teams.
It would be nice, but not essential if you have
- Knowledge of serverless, event-driven and/or realtime technologies (e.g. Pub/Sub, WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, MQTT, etc.).
- Familiarity with SEO and content distribution channels.
- Experience coordinating external freelancers and content agencies.
- Experience ghost writing on behalf of engineers.
- An active presence in developer communities.
